About Lightyear
We’re on a mission to make investing better for everyone in Europe. More specifically, we’re making it light years better (sorry… we had to!). We’re combining multi-currency accounts with unlimited access to global markets so that everyone in Europe can invest without sneaky hidden fees or unnecessary barriers.
In just four years, we’ve gone from idea to fully regulated in both the UK and EU, launched across 25 countries, raised $58M, and built a 80+ strong team from Europe’s top fintechs and startups.
We’re backed by a stellar line-up of investors – including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sir Richard Branson, Mosaic Ventures, NordicNinja, and some of Europe’s top founders like Taavet Hinrikus (Wise), Jaan Tallinn (Skype), and Markus Villig (Bolt).
Description
We're looking for a recruiter who's as bothered by manual work as they are by a slow hiring pipeline. You'll own recruiting end-to-end across a range of roles, but the thing that sets you apart is that you don't just work inside tools – you build them.
You'll be joining a small, high-ownership team. That means you'll spend real time on sourcing and running processes, but you'll also be expected to step back regularly and ask: "why are we still doing this by hand?". Then fix it.
If you're the type of person who's already using AI to automate their own workflows, or you can write the occasional script to pull data together, or gets unreasonably excited about eliminating a recurring task – this role was written for you.
What you will do
Own recruiting for a mix of technical and non-technical roles, end-to-end: sourcing, screening, coordinating, closing.
Partner with hiring managers to define what "great" looks like for each role and keep processes sharp and high-signal.
Build and maintain your own tooling – automations, AI-assisted workflows, internal dashboards – to eliminate repetitive work and keep the team moving faster.
Continuously audit how we hire: identify bottlenecks, propose improvements, ship them.
Contribute to people operations basics (onboarding, documentation, candidate comms) with the same builder mindset – if it can be templated or automated, make it so.
Track recruiting metrics and use them to make decisions, not just reports.
Requirements
3-4 years of recruiting experience, ideally in a fast-moving startup or fintech environment.
Strong judgment on candidate quality; you know what good looks like, and you're honest about the difference.
A genuine builder instinct: you've used AI tools, built automations, or otherwise created things that made your own (or your team's) work meaningfully easier.
Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward doing – you don't wait to be handed a process, you make one.
Clear, direct communicator. Fluent English.
Bonus: experience with data/analytics tooling, or any coding/scripting background (even light).
