What you will do

As a Senior Compliance and Risk Manager, you will take full ownership of second-line compliance and risk management responsibilities, ensuring robust oversight of regulatory risk assessments. You will serve as a trusted advisor to various first-line teams across brokerage, customer operations, product, and engineering, helping them proactively identify, manage, and monitor risks while designing and implementing efficient controls aligned with our risk profile.

Your role will be crucial in shaping our compliance and risk strategy, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, utilizing data-driven insights to evaluate control effectiveness, and leading the development of remediation plans where necessary. You will operate with high autonomy, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring regulatory excellence across the organization.

• Lead the ongoing development and execution of our risk and controls framework, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated within our risk appetite in a timely and effective manner.
• Design and implement a sophisticated, risk-based compliance monitoring program, providing expert guidance and assurance that controls are effectively designed, executed, and continuously improved.
• Maintain and oversee a risk and gap register, critically reviewing and challenging first-line closure of identified gaps while assessing risk impact and likelihood to ensure appropriate prioritization and follow-up actions.
• Take ownership over risk reporting to the board and key committees, effectively measuring and communicating the firm’s risk exposure to senior stakeholders.
• Manage interactions with regulators, internal and external auditors, and partner due diligence requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
• Conduct due diligence on key business partners and counterparties to strengthen compliance and risk controls.
• Champion a culture of compliance and risk awareness by leading staff training initiatives and embedding best practices across the organization.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, auditing, or related areas within financial services.
• Proven ability to independently design, implement, and oversee compliance and risk controls and processes at scale.
• Exceptional written and spoken English. You’ll be chatting with our international colleagues and partners on a daily basis.
• Strong collaboration and consulting skills, ability to dive deep into various topics, extract insights, create structures and build consensus.
• Self-sufficient in using data to make decisions and measure results.
• Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment is a plus.
• Experience working with operations, product, or engineering teams to launch new products or enter new markets is highly advantageous.
• While an understanding of the investment world is beneficial, a willingness to learn is essential.
