What you will do

As a Compliance and Risk Specialist, you will own the second line compliance and risk management responsibility for oversight of regulatory risk assessments. You will provide support and assurance to different first line of defence teams in the organisation (brokerage and customer operations, product and engineering) to help them identify, manage and monitor risks and design efficient controls to mitigate these, aligning it with our risk profile. You will be planning and conducting compliance monitoring and risk assessments, using data to measure those results, evaluating potential weaknesses in the controls in place, and leading drawing up remediation plans.

• Ensuring the continued development and implementation of our risk and controls framework, ensuring risks are identified, managed and mitigated according to our risk appetite in a timely manner while offering assurance that requirements are being met;
• Running a risk-based compliance monitoring plan, conducting monitoring activities over different parts of the organisation and providing expert guidance and support to ensure controls are effectively designed and properly executed;
• Maintaining a common risk and gap register, reviewing and challenging the first line closure of any identified gaps and supporting the analysis of impact and likelihood of risks to ensure appropriate prioritisation and monitoring follow-up actions to mitigate and close gaps;
• Coordinating reporting to board and our committees by effectively measuring and communicating the firm's risk exposure;
• Working with regulator requests, internal and external audits and partner due diligence requests, and conducting due diligence on our partners;
• Raising awareness and knowledge of risk management and compliance in the organisation by managing the training of staff.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working in compliance, risk management, auditing, legal or related areas in financial services;
• Previous experience and deep understanding of how to design and implement compliance and risk controls and processes;
• Exceptional written and spoken English. You’ll be chatting with our international colleagues and partners on a daily basis;
• Excellent collaboration and consulting skills, ability to dive deep into various topics, extract insights, create structures and build consensus;
• Ideally, self-sufficient in using data to make decisions and measure results.
• Having worked in a startup environment is a plus;
• Having worked with operations, product or engineering teams on launching new products or markets is a plus;
• An understanding of the investment world is great, but it’s not required. A willingness to learn about it is a must, though!
