About Lightyear

We’re on a mission to make investing better for everyone in Europe. More specifically, we’re making it light years better (sorry… we had to!). We’re combining multi-currency accounts with unlimited access to global markets so that everyone in Europe can invest without sneaky hidden fees or unnecessary barriers.

Over the last 2 years, we’ve grown from being just an idea to a regulated business in both the UK & the EU, launching in 22 countries and raising $35M along the way. And we’ve hired a team of 40+ people from some of the best fintechs and startups in Europe.

We’ve got a stellar group of investors behind us including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sir Richard Branson, Mosaic Ventures, Taavet Hinrikus, Jaan Tallinn, Sten Tamkivi, Eileen Burbidge as well as a host of angel investors. What you will do

You will work closely with engineers, operations, compliance, and other PMs to ship material improvements to our platform at high speed. You will ensure our customers can pay, invest, convert, withdraw, and that all the data in the app is up to date – you will improve the lives of customers by making all the above more seamless while lowering operating costs.

Type of problems you will lead

• Improve asset coverage - make all relevant assets available to Lightyear customers
• Reduce friction for users - with lower cost or more access to payment options
• Get variable cost to zero - reduce the variable costs by understanding
• Stability & resilience - develop monitoring and redundancy for important processes
• Improve product quality - understand where users experience pain when they invest, and build features to solve this

Requirements

• You have a track record of building financial systems in regulated markets, ideally in investments.
• You are exceptional with data, you can build your own risk-scoring models, or exposure-tracking logic in PostgreSQL to validate your ideas before they get to an engineer. You think in numbers and are able to articulate any problem in metrics.
• You are adept at simplifying complex trade-offs and taking the organisation along on prioritisation across a bunch of different types of problems
• You understand or are keen to become an expert in investments, and all the partners that come together to deliver a great investment service
• You are scrappy, always looking for a smarter way to deliver the same thing to the customers more efficiently

Nice to have

• You have a computer science or finance background
• You have a large chunk of expertise in one of the subdomains (Market Data, Execution and Settlement, Client Money)
• You are an investing guru
